Dunkle School House in
McArthur, Ohio
Ever sit at a double desk with your best friend? Did the “teacher’s
pet” get to ring the school bell? Remember McGuffey Readers? Were
you chosen to wash the blackboard? Did you fall asleep in school?
Now you can do all this and more in our restored Dunkle Schoolhouse
in scenic Vinton County, Ohio, just north of the friendly little
Village of McArthur. Our schoolhouse was built in 1885, the third
school building on this site. It hosted its last students in 1936
and became home to a couple of families before sitting empty for
several decades before we rescued and restored it during 2006.
Several generations of students learned their “3Rs in this building…readin’,
‘riting and ‘rithmitic. Now you can make your own 3Rs…rest,
relaxation and romance! Complete Story and Photos.
