Standing Bear Farm in Hartford, Tennessee

In the heart of the Smoky Mountains surrounded by Cherokee National Forest lies Standing Bear Farm, a turn of the century multi-generational farmstead including the original homestead, barns, outbuildings and farmhouse. The outbuildings have now been converted to a bunkhouse and cabin where we offer rustic lodging to hikers and others interested in stepping back from today's hectic lifestyle to a time in America's past when life in rural backcountry Appalachia was considered the "good life".

Aquone Hiker Lodge in Nantahala, North Carolina

Log cabin situated in the heart of the Nantahala National Forest at 3,500 feet with great mountain views, close to Nantahala Lake. Great location for hikers, bikers and cyclists, canoeists and those with a sense of adventure. The Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail run through the area it is a hikers paradise. Great location for bikers, close to the infamous 'Dragons Tail'. Cycle Route #2 (Mountain to the sea) runs past the Aquone Lodge. There is white water rafting on the Nantahala River, zip lining through the forest canopy, we also have the best fishing in Western NC.

Fontana Dam Shelter on the Appalachian Trail, North Carolina

Fontana Dam Shelter is 165.8 miles from Springer and 2018.4 miles to Katahdin. This shelter is in between Cable Gap Shelter which is 6.6 milees south and Mollies Ridge Shelter which is 11 miles north in Tennessee. Known as the Hotel Hilton of the AT.
